Erik Verwey is an Amsterdam-based pianist and composer whose music moves between modern jazz, classical influences and cinematic storytelling. Melody is at the heart of his work, with a strong sense of narrative shaping both his compositions and improvisations.
He leads the Erik Verwey Trio with bassist Hendrik Müller and drummer Daniël van Dalen. Their albums People Flow, About a Home and Live Encounters reflect an evolving musical identity, with harmonica player Hermine Deurloo as a recurring collaborator.
Alongside his trio work, Verwey releases solo piano music under the name Verwey, reaching millions of streams.
His latest project brings him together with guitarist Mozes Rosenberg. Their forthcoming album Provenance, scheduled for release in early 2027, brings together their distinct musical backgrounds, with the singles Mencho and Flametoast offering a first glimpse. Verwey also performs regularly with French chansonnier Philippe Elan.
Verwey graduated cum laude from the Utrecht Conservatory and earned his master's degree at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. His work in Dutch theatre, including collaborations with Louise Korthals and Dolf Jansen, has shaped his instinct for musical storytelling.
