Amsterdam-based pianist and composer Erik Verwey creates lyrical music where jazz, classical influences and cinematic storytelling meet. He graduated cum laude from the Conservatory of Utrecht and completed his master’s degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Years of composing and performing for acclaimed Dutch theatre productions, including work with Louise Korthals and Dolf Jansen, helped shape the strong narrative voice that defines his music.

Verwey leads the Erik Verwey Trio with bassist Hendrik Müller and drummer Daniël van Dalen. The trio’s albums People Flow (2020), About a Home (2023) and Live Encounters (2025) received international praise for their warm, cinematic sound and natural interplay. His long-running collaboration with harmonica player Hermine Deurloo has become a central part of the trio’s identity.

Alongside his jazz work, Verwey releases intimate solo piano music under the name Verwey. Moving between neo-classical, reimagined classical repertoire and cinematic melody, these recordings have reached millions of streams on Spotify and Apple Music.

In Rosenberg & Verwey, he joins forces with guitarist Mozes Rosenberg, bringing lyrical contemporary jazz into dialogue with the energy and tradition of Sinti jazz. Verwey also regularly performs with French chansonnier Philippe Elan.
